Superb Concert by piano quartet:
The New Zealand Piano Quartet distinguished itself once again with a superb recital…and has established itself as one of the countries pre-eminent chamber music ensembles. It's members' fine balance, obvious empathy, and enjoyment for the music produced rewarding performances with a programme of three piano quartet's.

Quartet delights in contrasting playing styles
A concert on Tuesday night by the New Zealand Piano Quartet would surely be one of the musical highlights of this year's concert season!
The quartet is certainly a superb combination of musicians who have great rapport with each other at all times…
Schumann's Piano Quartet in E flat Op 47 is a really massive work written in 1841. All the players had very involved parts, with particular emphasis on the role of the piano on which Richard Mapp displayed his great talent. The four contrasting movements required much technical skill from all instruments and all members of the quartet responded to give a thrilling and exciting climax to the concert. Delight of the piano quartet
It has always pleased me that the best permanent ensemble of that configuration [piano quartet] is resident in Wellington. The Beethoven quartet was a rewrite of a quintet for piano and winds, but you'd hardly know it, particularly at the hands of these players who approached it with remarkable subtlety, having thought carefully about dynamic shading and the balance they managed between the four instruments. They caressed the melodies and managed to invest its structure with a mastery that the 27yr old Beethoven had already mastered. Lindis Taylor, The Dominion Post
